October 1999 – Measles inclusion-body encephalitis caused by the vaccine strain of measles virus. (pdf) We report a case of measles inclusion-body encephalitis (MIBE) occurring in a previously healthy 21-month-old boy 8.5 months after MMR vaccination. A previously healthy 21-month-old boy presented to the emergency department of a community hospital in status epilepticus. He had no prior evidence of immune deficiency and no history of measles exposure or clinical disease. Despite this initial improvement, his clinical status deteriorated over the next 7 days. He was transferred to the intensive care unit and placed on a ventilator. On the 11th day of hospitalization a brain biopsy was performed. Despite aggressive interventions…the seizures became progressively worse. On hospital day 51, the patient died. We believe that the present report is the first to clearly demonstrate that severe neurological disease can be caused by the vaccine strain of measles virus.”
Comment: When pro-vaccine forces banter about how vaccines are “life saving” and “save millions of dollars each year,” two not-so-obvious economic considerations are left out of the discussion: 1) the damage vaccines can cause and 2) the costs associated with vaccine injuries. What would be the cost of 51 days in neo-natal intensive care? If the tens of millions – perhaps even billions – of dollars spent on medical care following a vaccine injury were added into the equations, it would be found that vaccines cost far more than any dollars they are allegedly save.
